On the morning of October 11, a review panel organized by the Enterprise Management Department and composed of Tian Xinzhong (Chief Engineer, Assistant General Manager and Assistant to the Chairman), Jiao Yu (Director of the Production Department) and Liu Zhenyong (Director of the Equipment Department) went deep into the frontlines to conduct an on-site review of a total of 8 self-initiated improvement projects submitted by various units in September. During the review, the company’s leaders spoke highly of the details and outcomes of the projects, and encouraged all employees to continue leveraging their wisdom and ingenuity to inject new impetus into the company’s cost reduction and efficiency enhancement initiatives.
On the same morning, the review panel visited relevant units successively, conducting a meticulous evaluation of each of the 8 self-initiated improvement projects through on-site inspections, progress briefings and interactive Q&A sessions. Covering multiple dimensions including production process optimization, equipment performance enhancement, energy consumption reduction and cost cutting, all these projects were independently developed and implemented by employees based on practical workplace needs and proactive exploration and innovation.

At the review site, the company’s leaders carefully examined the implementation effects of the projects, and made detailed inquiries about the entire process from conception and design to implementation, including the difficulties encountered, problem-solving approaches and expected benefits. In response to the leaders’ questions, the project leaders delivered well-structured reports, demonstrating solid professional capabilities and a proactive mindset for improvement. The leaders commended the innovative spirit and pragmatic attitude demonstrated by the employees, noting that these projects not only effectively addressed practical problems in production and boosted work efficiency, but also reflected the employees’ sense of responsibility to grow together with the company.
Among the projects, the "Waste Reutilization Improvement of SCR Catalysts for Denitration Unit #1 in the Sintering Workshop" launched by the Ironmaking Plant stood out. To ensure the denitration efficiency of the sintering workshop, the project repurposed waste catalysts from the coking plant by retrofitting and installing them in the sintering denitration system. This initiative not only reduced asset waste caused by directly disposing of coking catalysts as solid waste, but also eliminated additional disposal costs. Moreover, the addition of a spare catalyst layer in the sintering system further improved denitration performance. Another notable project was the "Modification to Increase the Service Tonnage of Laying Pipes in Line 1 of the Small Section Rolling Workshop" by the Wire Rod Plant. The team developed a dedicated tool to test the curvature of laying pipes before installation, and conducted alignment adjustments on the finishing mill cooling water tank rolling line, guide groove rolling line, laying head pinch rolls, water-cooled guides, tungsten carbide pipes and long straight pipe rolling line during equipment downtime. These measures effectively avoided unplanned shutdowns caused by abnormal wear of laying pipes. As a result, the monthly consumption of laying pipes dropped significantly from 20 pieces to just 6 pieces.

Upon completion of the review, the company’s leaders fully affirmed the overall quality of the self-initiated improvement projects. They pointed out that employees are the core driving force behind the company’s development, and self-initiated improvement activities serve as an important channel to stimulate employees’ creativity and propel the company’s sustainable progress. They expressed the hope that all employees would take this review as an opportunity to maintain a proactive and enterprising attitude, engage in more in-depth thinking and research, dare to break conventional boundaries, spark more innovative ideas through brainstorming sessions, and promote the implementation of more high-value improvement projects. Together, they should foster a sound working environment where "everyone participates in improvements and excellence is pursued everywhere", contributing their efforts to the company’s pursuit of higher-quality development.
It is reported that a total of 180 self-initiated improvement projects were submitted by various units in September. After the company’s review, 24 projects were awarded prizes, generating total economic benefits of 1.0747 million yuan. Going forward, the company will continue to refine the incentive mechanism for self-initiated improvements, encouraging more employees to actively participate in innovation practices, and embedding the philosophy of cost reduction, efficiency enhancement and continuous improvement into the hearts of every staff member.
